Today (March 10, 1996), 15 years ago, my train was approaching the station and I was looking out the window with expectations and a sense of excitement for the new chapter in my life which was about to begin. I had been traveling by train for 2 days and I was tired.

Here we go, and its now so many years later and I haven't looked back.

Apps for iPhone and Blackberry

I wrote Multiply if there will be Apps available for iPhone and Blackberry and they answered me. Here's hoping.

It has been on my mind for a long time but I just wondered if there is any plans on developing an App for the iPhone and Blackberry. Facebook and Twitter have them and I do like using Multiply and would be great to be able to use it on my phone. You have a great site and enjoy the rich blogging, photo sharing, and great fun with my friends on Multiply.. the apps would sure make it much more fun. Thanks again for such a great site..

Yep..

It seems like 2011 is turning out, so far as a year that sucks. Well at least that's how I am viewing it...

Sick the first week of January then sick again this week.

I NEVER GET SICK!

So what does that tell me? Not sure yet as it just might be a coincidence and it is, after all, flu season. I am starting to feel much better but took the day off work since I can talk at all. I am hoping to be back at work tomorrow but if not, my co worker will come in. (he is the bestest co worker in the whole wide world!)

Now to other things.. Firstly if I am dating anyone... Nope... its still the same old thing. However I have met a few guys here and there and there seems to be some hope there but I am taking it really slow seeing what will come next on that front.

About the top 20 songs and albums: I am working on that. I am taking it slower and also making sure the numbers are fair since the means that Lastfm collects the songs as they are being played can scew the numbers somewhat. If a Various artist CD is played, it is recorded by song, artist and CD. I have to count those so I can get an accurate picture of what albums I played the most.. anyways now that I have you all confused.. I wont go any further on that.

Also had this really good "New Years resolution blog in the works but haven't finished it yet. Yes I have some goals I want to achieve this year and I wanted them in writing. Anyhow that will come soon as well so be patient.

Weather here has been mixed... snow, then rain, then snow, then sunshine and more sunshine then snow again and then rain. Today it was pouring rain and no sign of snow. This winter has been a boon for the Ski industry with all the slopes reporting lots and lots of snow.

hmm can't think of anything else... so that's all she wrote. stay tuned for more.

5 Tiesto

Was the number two artist in 2009 yet his great music still helped him stay within the top 5 for 2010 thanks to his CD "Kaleidoscope", "Kaleidoscope Remixed" and his 2 CD hits collection "Magikal Journey" (the Hits Collection 1998-2010).

4 David Guetta

In 2009 I heard a song that totally caught my attention "When Love Takes Over". I bought the CD that the song came from "One Love" and it was played quite extensively over the course of the year (you will see that on the top 20 album chart). On the strength of that, he appears in the top 20 at number 4

3 Kylie Minogue

Another new artist for me (though she's been around for awhile) I wouldn't get enough of her new album "Aphrodite" and it was constantly playing. I ended up getting a few of her previous albums as well and on the strength of that she garnered a well earned position at number 3

2 Lady Gaga

A big year for Lady Gaga with 3 huge hits (all made it to the top 20 songs) "Bad Romance, Telephone, and Alejandro" I played her "Fame" and "Monster" albums a lot! A big jump for her (She was number 15 for 2009)
Her new single drops in February 13 followed by her new album May 23, 2011. "Born This Way"

1 ABBA

So does this surprise you? Still timeless music still catchy and still fun.. I couldn't get enough of this quartet from Sweden. Even had "ABBAFESTS" (playing nothing but ABBA all day).. so much fun. Latest reports state that there might be a slim chance the group may perform together for a cause and even record a new album for 2011. That would be something worth waiting for, though I am not holding my breath. (see previous blog)

That wraps up my most listened to artists for 2010. A nice mixture of old and new, dance and rock solo and group.. Next comes my most listened to albums. A few changes from last year with some new albums coming into the scene, some old standards making an appearance and some sticking around from last year. Stay tuned

10 Michael Jackson

Didn't play him as much this past year but still got enough attention to keep him in the top 20. Thriller is still my favorite followed by "Dangerous". Heard good reviews about his latest collection of material (has tracks he recorded that were never released publicly). May purchase it soon and if its as good as some say, you might see him here in the top 20 for 2011.

9 Janet Jackson

Love her double CD "Number Ones" and played it a lot which reflected on her position on the chart for 2010. (She moves up from 16 in 2009, to number 9). Hope to hear from her again soon though its said she's going to concentrate on acting for awhile before going into the studio again.

8 Jamiroquai

First time in the top 20 on the strength of their new album "Rock Dust, Light Star" (which is also in the top 20 albums for 2010).. Almost retro disco/ fusion/ soul with catchy tunes and interesting lyrics

7 Madonna

I love her song "Celebration" and played her greatest hits a lot this past year as well as my favorite album "Confessions on a Dance Floor" She is not as high up this time (#5 last year) but still holds her own.

6 Paul Van Dyk

The number one artist 2009 was dethroned by another artist (hint my favorite) yet still managed to stay in the top 10 on the strength of his latest collection "The Volume- The Best of Paul Van Dyk [Deluxe Edition]". Infectious dance beats which I always enjoy. Hoping to see new material in 2011.

I didn't listen to here as much this past year but then again she had no new material either. She is as great as ever and I can never get enough of her "Bad Girls" album.. such a classic.
A great Diva!

Word has it she has two albums to be released this year. One consist mainly of dance oriented songs and the other of standards. see link

14 Armin Van Buuren

Yes he is still here on the charts a little further down this time (last year #8) Great melodic dance tunes to keep your feet going all night. (State of Trance 2010 did quite well on the album chart) His new album "Mirage" was released in 2010.

13 Rihanna

2010 was a good year for Rihanna. I have her new album which I played quite a bit but still enjoyed her previous relases more. Really like her song with Emminem "Love the Way you Lie". I had to download that song separately since its not on her latest album and is only available on Emminems CD "Recovery"

12 Cascada

On the strength of her "Evacuate the Dancefloor" album she manages to stay in the top 20 (was at #3 last year). I could only find one new song in 2010 and no new album (Pyromania)

11 Mike Oldfield

An old staple and on my play lists on a regular basis. Still at number 11. His music is always timeless and interesting. Will likely stick around in 2011 as well

Here I am again with my top 20 artists, albums and songs for 2010 according to my listening habits and recorded by LastFM. Some changes in the chart a few are in for the first time while others are still there from last year.

So here it goes....

20 The Corrs

Was not in my top 20 last year (probably somewhere below that) Always pleasant listening to their Celtic inspired pop with catchy hooks. Kind of surprised that they made it this far as I don't recall listening to them too often, unless of course I did a Corrs marathon (listening to nothing but Corrs all day). I did that for ABBA and you will see how that went for them.

19 Coldplay

They fared much better last year (#9) but of course there was no new material from them in 2010. Still they got enough playing from me to keep them in the top 20. One of my favorite bands out there.

18 Black Eyed Peas

Must have been from lots of playing of their songs "I Got a Feeling" and "The Time (Dirty Bit)" to get the number 18 position. Not a huge fan of the group but I do like some of their songs.. Very catchy and fun. You should watch their latest video "The Time (Dirty Bit)" pretty interesting effects.

17 Taylor Swift

It was a big year for Taylor Swift with two multiplatinum albums and a string of hits. I played her two album a fair bit. Her music is fun and great to listen to I enjoyed it.. and I really am not much of a country music fan either.. go figure eh?

16 Deadmau5

Not sure how to classify this music as its more the dance club dj mix.. From Canada, they are recognized all over the world and have had their music on many a DJ mix (Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren)
Its an acquired taste as my first listen to their music, I ended up returning the unopened cd (couldn't return the one I bought and opened).. but after awhile it got me hooked now I would love to see them live and dance to their tunes.. would be great fun.

It's me again.. on to another blog of my life..

Well I think I got turned down again. Another great date, thinking there would be more. In fact we planned on meeting again then suddenly during the week he canceled due to work related issues (big layoffs at his company). Then the "lets be friends" speech. Well all you can do in something like that is let go and move on.

I often wonder, is it me, do I have bad breath, crooked smile, boring disposition? Whats with all this crap I keep experiencing. Everyone keeps saying "why aren't you with someone? You are such a nice guy, cute, and friendly?"

I don't get it! Got all these nice things about me but it appears its not good enough for most guys (or all of them in fact).
Maybe I should just be a hermit and forget about dating or even seeing anyone for that matter.. Less likely to be disappointed that way.

Yet.....

It's all I can do not to go out and meet new people, enjoy the company of friends and even experiencing the sharing of a life with that one special person...

so the search continues.

... and maybe, just maybe... that special someone is right under my nose somewhere but I'm too busy navel gazing to notice..

Going out tonight with a friend and another guy (who likes me) wants to go out too and I reluctantly said yes.. I'm too nice a guy as I have no real reason to say no but then again sometimes what I feel like doing and what should be done conflicts. He's a nice guy and I cant simply brush him off so there you go.. my friend and this guy out for a beer. Hope they get along, we shall see..

Checked my LastFM page the other day to see where my listening preferences have been this past 6 or 7 months. Man what a change! Paul van Dyk has dropped to 6 and David Guetta and Lady Gaga have surged to the top spots. Kylie Minogue on the strength of her new album "Aphrodite" (which I just cant stop playing) is now in the top 5. You can compare the 2009 chart with today's past 6 months and see what has changed and what hasnt. My listening habits go through phases and some artists may drop off completely this year and some unheard of before will be at the top and then others will continue in a more or less even keel.

Been working on this nutrition plan set up by my gym. I've been through it once already and of course my grocery bill went up quite a bit. I didn't realize how little I was eating before the plan, not that I was anorexic as I did eat regularly, but it was a lot less than what the plan asks for. I guess for me to gain weight and muscle I need to eat a lot more. That can be frustrating at times since I never really planned my meals before, just took out what was in the fridge at the time. Now I have to plan, and I buy groceries almost daily.

I just finished the plan, and will start going through it again. This time I'm trying to be more proactive in this by putting together a short term and long term grocery list so I have everything on hand for every meal and it just might save me money too. You are asking if its worked.. well in some respects yes. I am eating better and more and I have managed to gain half a pound. ugh. However, I do have a high metabolism and I do go to the gym at least 3 times a week so its going to take a little more determination to get to my goals. So all of you who think being skinny is easy, well its the same problems except going in the opposite direction. Its all about a lifestyle of good nutrition, exercise and determination....

By the way, I am quite satisfied with the results so far but its a long process and I didn't realize it would take so long but so be it. My friends do notice the changes to the point where one of them wanted me to take my shirt off at a bar so everyone could see.. I politely declined.

I was having a text conversation with my friend the other day.. Not sure what we were saying but he did mention "I cant be drinking tonight, hahah" and I replied "why is that" He text back that he was taking some medication.
Of course I thought oh, he must have got some sort of bug or something so I asked him what it was.

His return text surprised and shocked me.

Well that was a revelation to me. Ive known him for about 4 or so years and never have I suspected he was HIV positive.
I had to look at my phone to make sure I was texting the right person and of course my first thought was, he had someone using his phone etc.
My response was.. "is this John" and of course he said it was and asked why.
I told him I never even suspected he was HIV and in reply said, "I thought I mentioned something to you about it before"

I was pretty shocked, stunned, ready to go hug him etc, but of course he's been this way for a few years now and has come to accept it. His life philosophy is live life to the fullest which he does and he has a very positive outlook as well.

He hardly ever talks about it, like it was the centre of his life which it isn't.
Yes he is working on treatment. his counts are all normal but he wants to get a head start before things start happening, which is of course why he started taking medication. He wants to live a long life.
Anyhow that all doesn't really matter. He is still my friend and that didn't change a hair, except I know something more about him. I feel almost sad yet he does have many years ahead of him.

I had a great evening with an old friend of mine.. I haven't seen her in 14 years since I moved from Yorkton Saskatchewan back in 1996. It was so good to see her. We (her room mate included who I knew in Yorkton as well) walked up and down Commercial Drive, checking out the shops, having coffee at one of the best cafe's in the city and then finally settling down for dinner at a little restaurant offering live music. It was a great day as even the sun came out.

Just had a look at my bank statement and the debts keep piling up and it seems I'm not making any headway in this situation.. Not a good thought when you keep falling down that hole. Now before you all get panicky, it is manageable I just haven't been paying too much attention lately. I hate anything to do with keeping track of money etc so I let things lax now and then which of course is not nice. I did have a look and decided a game plan on getting the pile up down to zero. Its going to take me a year I think. ugh!
A few perks I'm going to have to give up, and no big vacation for me this year, stuff like that. The price you pay but oh well.
In the end, I'll be in a better place which would give me peace of mind.

Just a brief blog for today to let you know how things are going this week.

I had a little bit of a shouting match with the Sales/ General manager. He has a way of putting down everything I do and of course him being Italian he gets all freaked out about it.. I get "shit" for doing my job is what he does. I called him on that and let him know that all I'm doing is what is what I was hired for and "you make me feel like shit". Anyhow he got apologetic and calmed down. I guess he has to realize I'm not Italian so if I get mad, "I am really mad" not just venting and that's how I take his outbursts. I think we both have come to some sort of truce on that and he hasn't yelled at me since, got excited a little, but not yelled at me. He's an OK guy, tries to be fair and nice but he is, after all, Italian and they do get excitable over nothing.
The work week was actually pretty good. I have an awesome assistant and sure has taken the pressure off big time.
I plan on working some extra hours to get some things done in the parts room. its a bit messy right now and I have no time to deal with it..
